The Ford Motor Company certainly recognized the Image and Inspiration of Legends. It developed and refined many Greats; such as the "Thunderbird" and "Grand Marquis"... Yet one of the Leaders that captured the hearts of North Americans and beyond was, and still is: "The Mighty Mustang"! So now it was time for Ford to have A MUSTANG "Ford Mustang" the stuff that Legends are made of, a Sporty little car with Inspiration started its life in 1962 as an idea and went into production in 1964 as a 1964 ½ model. It was a nice little car with a lot of Get Up and Go Power, Innovation and Luxury. However within a very short time it out grew that image until it became a large over blown mussel car of the 70’s. It stayed that way until 1973 when it was felt that the MUSTANG needed a complete overhaul and the car from that point on was never the same. |
